Frequently asked questions
Do you groom cats as well as dogs?
Yes. Cats are welcome. Cat grooming happens in a calm, quiet setting with no other animals around.
Is there a size or weight limit?
Yes. I groom pets 50 lbs or less.
My pet gets nervous. Can you still groom them?
That is exactly why I do one-on-one mobile grooming. There is no kennel and no other animals, and I let your pet set the pace. Tell me what makes them anxious when you book, and I will plan around it.
Will you shave my dog or cat?
Only when it is necessary and safe, and mostly as a last resort. Your pet's coat helps regulate their temperature and protects their skin. That matters most for double-coated dogs, like goldens, huskies and shepherd mixes, and for fluffy cats. I shave mainly when mats are tight enough that there's no other option, and I'll talk it through with you before I pick up the clippers. Most of the time, a good brush-out, a de-shed and a trim do the job. If a pet needs a cut shorter than a #7 blade, that is considered a surgical procedure, and I will ask you to take them to your vet.
Do you express anal glands?
Yes, upon request. Just let me know when you book. If your pet is scooting, licking at their back end, or seems uncomfortable, please call your vet, since that can be a medical issue.
Where do you work?
I serve the Greater Triangle Area, including Durham, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Hillsborough, Raleigh, Cary and Morrisville. Call or text (984) 254-7381 if you are not sure whether I reach you.
What do I need to provide at the visit?
Please have a safe, legal, fairly level parking spot with room for the van and a safe path for handing off your pet. Keep dogs leashed and cats in a carrier or closed room. An adult should be available unless we arranged another way ahead of time, and please keep your phone nearby. If I ask for outlet access when you book, please have it ready.
How long does a visit take?
It depends on the service and on your pet's size and coat. Dogs: a Bath & Brush is about 1 to 2 hours, and a Full Groom is about 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Cats: a Bath & Brush is about 1.5 hours, and a Lion Cut is about 2 hours. A De-Shed adds about 30 minutes. These are estimates, and I never rush a pet.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Changes with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged 50% of the scheduled service estimate, and same-day cancellations and no-shows up to 100%. Genuine emergencies are considered one at a time. If I have to cancel for weather or another emergency, you are not charged.
What if I need to reschedule or I am running late?
Please give 24 hours' notice to reschedule. If you are more than 15 minutes late, or no one is available to hand off your pet or give safe access, the visit may be shortened, rescheduled or treated as a no-show. Genuine emergencies are considered one at a time.
How is pricing determined?
There is a $60 minimum per visit. Prices shown are starting prices and quotes are estimates. The final price can reflect your pet's size, coat condition, behavior, extra time, travel and any add-ons you approve.
What payment methods do you accept?
Payment is due right after the groom. You can keep a card on file with my secure payment provider, and tips are always optional. Personal checks are not accepted unless approved in advance. A $50 booking deposit may be requested for new clients, longer visits, multi-pet households and busy dates. It is credited toward your completed visit.
What if my pet is a senior or has a medical condition?
Please tell me when you book so I can plan a gentle, comfortable visit. For medical questions, your vet is the right call. Senior pets get a comfort-first groom, with breaks, gentler handling and sometimes a simpler haircut. I may ask for a vet's OK first. If I think your pet needs urgent vet care, I will call you or your emergency contact first. If I cannot reach either of you quickly, I will take your pet to your regular vet or the nearest vet. Vet costs are the client's responsibility, and you can set a maximum amount in advance.
What about fleas and ticks?
Please tell me before I arrive if you know or suspect fleas or ticks. If I find them, I may adjust or stop the visit to protect my van and other pets. With your OK, I can do a flea bath and remove visible ticks, which may add product and time charges. Grooming does not replace vet parasite treatment.
What if the weather is bad?
Visits may be delayed, shortened or rescheduled for severe weather, ice, flooding, extreme heat or road closures. You are never charged when I cancel.
Do you charge a travel fee?
Visits outside my main route may carry a travel fee, which I will tell you about before you confirm. Parking charges or permits may be added if they apply.
What are your hours?
Monday to Thursday, 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. I am closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Do you post photos of my pets?
Never without your OK. I will not post photos of your pet, or of you, unless you agree to it first, and I will ask with a simple photo release. If you would rather not have any photos shared, that is no problem at all, and it never changes the care your pet gets. You are always in control, and you can change your mind any time just by telling me.
